We have created this FAQ page to help guide you through some of the features of Picle. If you need anymore info or want to recommend some inclusions/changes to this FAQ then don’t hesitate to get in touch @picleapp.
1. Creating an Account
Tap on the settings tab, within the app and tap ‘New Account’. Make sure that when you select your username there are no spaces in it. Add your email, create a password.
2. Capture Settings
Picle allows you to choose between 2 different capture settings.
- One Shot Record - Capture the picture and sound in one go.
- Two Step Record - Take a picture first, then record the sound after.
You can also adjust the length of the audio capture using the slider under record length.
3. Creating a Picle
When you’re ready to take a Picle press the camera/mic icon in the centre of the app.
Capture as you would on your iPhone’s camera.
Then depending on your audio capture settings, capture the accompanying audio. If you have ‘Two Step Record’ selected you can stop the capture prematurely if you tap the stop icon at the bottom of the screen.
If you want to select a picture from your photo library, tap the icon in the bottom left of the screen. This will take you to your Camera Roll, from there you can select the picture you want to use.
You can preview the Picle by tapping the play button in the middle of the screen and decide whether you want to keep it or not.
If you navigated to Capture when you were in ‘All Picles’ then the Picle you created will be added to ‘All Picles’. Similarly if you were in a story when you went to take a Picle, the Picle will be added to that story.
4. All Picles
All Picles created are placed into the ‘All Picles’. From here you can view all of the Picles you’ve created and put them into a story or delete them.
5. Stories
Creating/Adding a Story
To create a story or to add to an existing story.
- Tap ‘Add to Story’ on the Stories home tab
- In All Picles you can tap edit and select the desired Picles and tap ‘Add to’ at the bottom of the screen.
You will then be asked if you want to ‘Add to a New Story’ or ‘Add to Existing Story’.
- If creating a new story you will be prompted to name it.
- Editing Stories
To edit stories, open up the desired story. Tap edit in the top right hand of the screen. Then tap on a Picle to select it, you can then drag the Picles into the order you want your story to be in. Or delete picles you don’t want.
6. Uploading & Sharing
When you are happy with your story and want to upload it go into the story and tap edit. A share button in the bottom left corner will appear.
After tapping the share button you will be able to see your sharing options.
7. Error Messages
We are still developing the app and web service so you may receive the following error messages.
403 - Signup/User error
500 - Stories invalid. This could be that you have no Picles in a story or the username is incorrect.
502 - User isn’t signed in.
